Paula recognized as Optica Women Scholar
Paula is one of 20 women selected to be an Optica Women Scholar from an international pool of applicants. Optica states that the program “provides visibility, community, and resources for women in optics and photonics via financial support, professional development, and establishing a global network as they enter the field”.

Paula awarded Optica Amplify Scholarship
Paula has been selected as an inaugural recipient of the Optica Foundation Amplify Scholarship. This international scholarship provides 10 Black undergraduate or Master’s students with $7,500 scholarships, an Optica membership, and a mentoring program.

Paula gives a plenary talk at Harvard’s National Collegiate Research Conference
Paula traveled to Harvard University to present our research at the National Collegiate Research Conference (NCRC). As one of nine attendees selected to be a plenary speaker, she delivered a talk titled “Nanophotonic Metasurfaces for Living Material Characterization” and a gave poster presentation.
